Final Design Justification Questions

1. Applebox Theatre Companies objectives are to promote community engagement through refined theatrical performances.

2. Applebox is a Colorado based Theatre Company that provides unique experiences through theatrical performances by partnering with organizations that address social issues.

3. Apple Theatre Company partners with non-profit organizations to interpret social concerns through theatrical performances.

4. Applebox Theatre Company is creating a new specialty attribute in the market as a company that closely partners with non-profit organizations to further their causes through great performances. The design acts as an active agent in promoting the goal through stylistic techniques that are modernistic to entice a demographic that supports a call to action.

5.Applebox Theatre will be using mediums such as a website, posters/flyers, stickers and motion pieces to engage the consumer in the experience.

The touchpoints will help Applebox Theatre Company communicates that it provides a unique experience by bringing and artistic voice to socially conscious issues.

The theatre's strategy with these touchpoints is to bring awareness to a wider demographic through humorous one liners such as "Orange you coming to the show?" or "WTF is Applebox Theatre?". It is these types of catchy one liners that will grab the attention of the public and instantly create a curiosity about Applebox Theatre Company.

The touch points are also being created to send a message to the public that Applebox Theatre is not like every other theatre troupe in Denver. Applebox Theatre Company is bringing an awareness to a current social issue, but it certainly is not being shoved down the viewers throat like most social issues tend to be.

Applebox wants to change the way in which people perceive theatre.

- The website conveys theatre through personable imagery that connects the audience on an intimate level.
- Viral Video/ Digital Postcard promotes a mini campaign for upcoming performances.
- Through dimensional typography in posters Applebox Theatre Company combines welcoming humor with a bold message.
- Social Media Sites socially connect members of Applebox Theatre Company to a target audience by creating personal connections with a familiar medium.

6. Based on field research we discovered that many members of society do not attend theater because of a lack of interest in traditional theater.

7. The identity of Applebox Theatre Company is a modern twist on traditional theater design that conveys a trust-worthy experience through progressive social interactions.

8.The personality of Applebox Theatre Company seeks to differentiate themselves through innovations in the traditional theatre markets. Personality is communicated through a modern design aesthetic that i focused on a intense photographic style.

9. See #5

10. Applebox Theatre Company's mission is to provide an artistic voice to under represented social issues. The brand develops this by presenting a call to action through theatrical performance.

11. The brands identity standards are effective in a multi-media environment through methods of print and digital design. Posters, t-shirts, billboards and social media networking Applebox Theatre Company advertises and engages a variety of audiences through visual movements promoting the Theatre itself or a specific show.

12. From the design perspective Applebox Theatre Company, is represented with a much more humorous tone and approach to both itself and the theater craft itself. Aesthetically the logo is a metaphoric “box” via the playful shape of typography. Through a humorous approach Applebox Theatre Company still takes note of itself as a theater while moving past the same connotations that other theaters do by subversively mocking itself and the traditional / stereotypical audience to appeal to both the standard theatre audience as well as the non traditional audience who have less then positive opinions of the theater experience as a whole.

13. All of our designs from print and web design to the motion design, not only make reference to strong structural boundaries, but also create a flexible and supportive brand identity that develops and adapts as needed over time.

Today at 1pm

I'll see you all here at 1. If you need to be let in (doors are typically locked) give me a call.

I think we should bring all deliverables, and compile all group questions into a single, coherent template. Additionally, we should create a layout for our individual questions, and assign specific tasks in preparation for our presentation. Please bring all working files for all deliverables, so if we need to change something, we can do it this afternoon.

Shit is starting to look good on the web end, have a gander if you'd like.

I have theatre photography (taken on friday) which could be used in other areas of the group as needed.

See yall soon,

Ryan

Social Networking

So I spent class today going through theatre companies facebook and twitter accounts to try and gather what type of information they were posting and how they were linking their pages to outside web publications. Here is a list of things i found most interesting.

"Teaser" photo albums: staged photo shoots showcasing a performances actors, costumes, set design, hair/make-up, overall feel for the play.

Play reading updates and invitations: for both current performances and just well known plays and comedies.

Call for volunteers and support: asking community members for help with set design and construction, "street teams" to promote causes and performances, donations, tech support, lighting, music, backstage crew.

Acting classes: for children and adults working with troupe members, often includes a photo album.

Links to reviews of performances

links to venue's websites

pages and links with various awards and press.

Since applebox is new a lot of this content is not available, but all of this is really useful in the direction they can take their social media. Some small theatre companies even have upwards of 5,000 followers- so yes it is possible to get the word out via all social networking sites.
